🎉 Celebrating Sustainability at Sloan: Reflecting on 2024 & Looking Ahead to 2025 🌱

Sustainability has been at the heart of Sloan since our founding over 118 years ago, and we continue to evolve as we navigate the complex sustainability landscape today. As I celebrate my 2-year anniversary at Sloan, I’m proud of the milestones we’ve achieved and excited for what’s next. Here’s a glimpse into our 2024 achievements and what’s on the horizon in 2025:

🌍 2024 Sustainability Highlights:

  • LEED Silver & WELL Gold Certification for our downtown Chicago Showroom—a tangible example of how we walk the talk.
  • Collaborating with MCAA to develop a sustainability roadmap for companies of all sizes—helping our customers embark on their sustainability journeys.
  • Water Quality Focus: With the launch of our DropSpot™ Bottle Fillers, we’ve expanded our sustainability efforts beyond water efficiency, addressing water quality and contaminants like lead and PFAS.

🌱 Key Takeaways from Greenbuild Expo:

  • Building at Scale is a key trend with the USGBC’s new PERFORM tool helping improve sustainability across portfolios.
  • LEED v5 is shifting to emphasize resilience and performance, and EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) are here to stay—transforming data into meaningful action.
  • As a proud member of Mindful Materials, we are excited about the Common Materials Framework that promotes transparency and data-driven decision-making.

đź’§ Innovating for Water Sustainability:

  • Our DropSpot Bottle Fillers are helping address water safety concerns, ensuring access to clean drinking water while minimizing environmental impact through certifications like NSF-53 and WELL Building Standard.
  • Sloan continues to lead the industry with the first-ever EPD for water bottle fillers, contributing to our Carbon Neutral Product line.

đź’ˇ Sustainability Through Partnerships:

  • We’re strengthening relationships with organizations like the International Well Building Institute (IWBI), Water Innovation Stewardship Exchange (WISE), and local groups like the Leyden Foundation to make a meaningful impact both locally and globally.

🚀 Looking Ahead to 2025 and Beyond: We are committed to minimizing our environmental footprint with a target to reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030. Our focus will shift towards Scope 3 emissions, evaluating our entire value chain—from transportation to waste—to ensure sustainability at every step.

The future is bright, and I’m incredibly proud of the work we’re doing at Sloan to make a lasting impact. Let’s continue pushing the boundaries of sustainability together! 🌿
